This 2-day trek covers a distance of approximately 12 kilometers (7.5 miles), starting at the 104 km mark and culminating in the majestic Machu Picchu. Day 1: Cusco – Km 104 – Wiñay Wayna – Aguas Calientes

  • Morning: Transfer from Cusco to the train station, followed by a scenic train ride to Km 104, the trek’s starting point.
  • Trek Begins: Embark on a hike to the Chachabamba ruins, followed by a gradual climb to Wiñay Wayna, an impressive Inca site.
  • Lunch: Enjoy a packed lunch amidst panoramic views.
  • Afternoon: Continue trekking to the Sun Gate for a first glimpse of Machu Picchu. Descend to Aguas Calientes for an overnight stay.
  • Evening: Briefing for the next day and dinner at a local restaurant in Aguas Calientes.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

  • Early Morning: Take the first bus to Machu Picchu, arriving in time to witness the sunrise.
  • Guided Tour: Explore Machu Picchu with a 2-hour guided tour, learning about its history and significance.
  • Free Time: Additional time to explore the citadel, hike Huayna Picchu (if permits are available), or simply soak in the views.
  • Return to Cusco: Head back to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included), followed by the train and bus journey to Cusco.
